Employee text consent

How team members join a Briefly Shift Line, online or on paper, and the welcome text every new number receives.

Privacy Policy Terms of Service SMS Terms Employee Consent

How team members opt in

  1. The employee signs up. Online at brieflyforbusiness.com/signup, usually from a link or QR code the employer shares, by entering their own mobile number and checking an unchecked consent box. Or on paper, with the printable form below. Either way it's voluntary and not a condition of employment.
  2. The employer confirms who's on the team. Briefly adds only people who signed up and whom the employer confirms work there.
  3. Briefly sends one welcome text. It confirms the enrollment, says what the texts are for, and explains HELP and STOP. After that, every message is about shift callouts and coverage.

I agree to receive automated text messages from the Briefly Shift Line on behalf of the business named above, at the mobile number above, about my work shifts, including requests to cover open shifts and updates on shift coverage. Message frequency varies. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply HELP for help or STOP to opt out at any time. Consent is not a condition of employment. If I don't sign, I can still call out and pick up shifts the usual way with my manager. SMS Terms: brieflyforbusiness.com/sms-terms. Privacy Policy: brieflyforbusiness.com/privacy.

The welcome text

Sent once, when the employer adds the employee's number. Example for an employee named Sam at Corner Cup Coffee:

Briefly
Hi Sam, Corner Cup Coffee added you to its Briefly shift line. When someone can't make a shift, you'll get a text here asking if you can cover. To call out of your own shift, just text this number. Msg frequency varies. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply HELP for help, STOP to opt out.

Replying STOP, or asking in plain words like "please stop texting me", opts the employee out of all texts from that number, and START opts them back in. The reason an employee gives for a callout is never passed on to coworkers or the owner. Full details are in the SMS Terms.
